The Hampton Lane Child Development Center (HLCDC) was established on September 1, 1977 and is a non-profit outreach ministry program to the community. It is sponsored by Towson United Methodist Church. The HLCDC provides a warm, loving, and safe educational environment for children ages 2 through Pre-K. The Center is licensed and has a Certificate of Approval by the Maryland State Department of Education. In addition, the Center has achieved a level one quality rating with the Maryland EXCELS branch of the Maryland State Department of Education. The HLCDC does not discriminate against race, color, natural origin, or religion when accepting children into its educational program.
The Child Development Committee (CDC) oversees the operation of the Center. Committee members are appointed by Towson United Methodist Church and have varied backgrounds. Many are former teachers and have early childhood experience. Some of the responsibilities of the Committee include setting policy and procedures, supervision of the Center’s staff, adjusting staff salaries, adjusting tuition rates, administering the Tuition Assistance Program and handling any other matters which may come before it. Above all, the primary responsibility of the Committee is the welfare of the children who attend Hampton Lane Child Development Center. The Center Director of HLCDC reports directly to the Chairperson of the CDC and to the Senior Pastor.
